Healing is a personal journey that rarely follows a straight path, but with the right support, growth and lasting change are possible. Alana Barkman is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She earned her Master's degree from Mercer University in 2022 and has worked with children and adolescents ages 3–18, providing support for trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, behavioral challenges, and communication difficulties. She also enjoys working with young adults and couples, helping them build stronger relationships through improved communication, conflict resolution, and healing from challenges such as infidelity, addiction, emotional distance, and other relationship concerns, with the goal of fostering greater connection and overall relationship satisfaction. She believes that every person’s story matters—and that even the most painful chapters can become places of insight, healing, and growth.

Alana works with children, adolescents, couples, and families to gently explore how their experiences show up in their thoughts, emotions, and relationships today. She believes in working together toward finding language for what once felt unspoken, building emotional awareness, and creating space for change.

Alana gives focus to helping clients navigate trauma, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop the ability to respond to life with greater clarity and self-compassion. She also supports  individuals in learning how to advocate for themselves and reconnect with their inner voice—especially when it has felt lost, quiet, or overlooked.

She understands that the process is not always easy and aims to ensure her practice is warm, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that healing happens through connection. Alana strives to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel understood, empowered, and capable of meaningful change.
