Specializations: Older Adolescents & Adults, Grief & Loss, Suicide Prevention, Relationship & Family Dynamics, Identity Exploration
Dr. April is a Clinical Psychology Post-Doctoral Fellow who brings a compassionate, client-centered approach to her work. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Michigan State University (Go Green!), followed by both her Master’s degree and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Indianapolis.
April completed her doctoral internship at the Georgia Institute of Technology’s counseling center, where she provided individual, couples, and group therapy to clients navigating a wide range of emotional and psychological concerns.
While she has a special connection to working with young adults, April has also served clients across the lifespan through roles in private practice, community mental health, and school-based settings. As April understands the uniqueness of each individual and their lived experiences, she takes a collaborative person-centered approach, which focuses on the individuality and autonomy of each client, while emphasizing emotional understanding and interpersonal dynamics. April values the process and exploration of therapy, as her clients work to gain deeper insight into their authentic selves. In addition to therapy, April is trained in comprehensive psychological evaluations, including assessment administration, diagnostic formulation, and the development of tailored recommendations.
April welcomes individual clients age 16 and older, and couples. Her clinical interests include grief and loss, suicide prevention, relationship and family dynamics, life transitions, identity exploration, and body image concerns.
Outside of the therapy room, you can find April enjoying a local coffee shop, walking her husky, or reading a psychological thriller by the pool.
April is under the supervision of Dr. Wendy Dickinson Ragland, PhD.
