- What prompted your interest in becoming a counselor?
- Briefly describe your theoretical orientation.

VIDEO CASE STUDY: Matt is a 35-year-old married man with two young children. He has been employed as an electrical engineer in a local firm for 10 years. Matt married his college girlfriend a few years after graduation when they discovered she was pregnant. He describes their relationship as “typical.” They eat meals and attend family gatherings together but do little else as a couple. Matt spends his spare time reading, playing golf and watching TV. He reports that he is a Christian and that his faith is important to him. For the last two months, Matt has felt blue and his appetite has decreased. Because he has not been sleeping well, Matt drinks more at night. Sometimes his life feels meaningless. Matt has tried to “get over it” but he just feels stuck.
