Suicide in America is not age-specific. Sadly, teen suicide has become an American epidemic though.

Adults are no longer the only ones that experience mental health issues, millions of children in our country struggle with mental illness. One of the biggest challenges that face schools, parents, and medical professionals in identifying children who may be at risk of suicide are the myths that surround it.

In part 2 of a series on the mental health crisis in U.S. schools, NPR spoke to David Jobes, the head of Catholic University’s Suicide Prevention Lab to discuss six common misperceptions of suicide.
