Wendy L. Dickinson, Ph.D.
Career & Leadership Development
As a Licensed Psychologist, Dr. Dickinson received a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Georgia State University. Additionally, she has a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling and specialized training from Richmont Graduate University, formerly Psychological Studies Institute.
Dr. Dickinson is the Founder and Executive Director of GROW heal.live.lead, llc, a counseling and leadership development organization, which assists individuals, couples, groups, and corporate teams to achieve their fullest life or career potential. With more than a decade of experience, Dr. Dickinson specializes in such clinical issues as addictions, crises, faith-based issues, leadership development, stress management, trauma, maximizing productivity, and vocational counseling. She works with a variety of clientele of various ages and backgrounds. Frequently her caseload is composed of men, CEOs, baby boomers, college students, and affluent clients who are looking for a counseling experience that is tailored to their unique needs. She is experienced at stepping into crisis situations with individuals and groups to help them navigate “next steps” as well as long term recovery strategy.
As an adjunct faculty member of Georgia State University, and Richmont Graduate University, she has taught classes at both graduate and undergraduate levels. Dr. Dickinson has worked widely in the areas of leadership and organizational development in the United States and internationally. Her work has included leadership initiatives for various non-profit and faith-based organizations directed toward creating successful vision and strategy, developing innovative staff and volunteer training, and implementing team-building procedures.
A Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator, Dr. Dickinson completed the intensive training program with Dr. Brené Brown, who is the bestselling author of Daring Greatly, The Gifts of Imperfection, I Thought It Was Just Me, and Rising Strong. The Daring Way™ is a method based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown and was developed to help individuals, couples, organizations, and teams, learn how to show up, be seen, and live braver lives. The primary focus is on increasing authenticity, addressing vulnerability, developing shame resilience, learning to live wholeheartedly with courage.
Dr. Dickinson founded GROW Restored, Inc., a non-profit organization with the mission of providing counseling services to those in need, both locally and around the world. In 2012 GROW Restored, Inc. partnered with an orphanage in the slums of Kibera, Nairobi, Africa to train the teachers in play therapy techniques to help the children process some of the trauma they had experienced.
Dr. Dickinson received her undergraduate degree from Florida State University. Previously she worked at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond Virginia, in the University Counseling Center. She is a member of the American Psychological Association.
