Life Stage Transitions
Laura earned a Masters of Family Therapy degree from Mercer University. She gained extensive experience in her clinical work at Laurel Heights Psychiatric Hospital where she worked with children and adolescents as well as their families in an inpatient setting. She gained experience working with those with intellectual and developmental disabilities from the Nisonger Center at The Ohio State University. She is comfortable adapting therapy to the appropriate developmental level of the child or adolescent. Laura’s clinical experience also includes working at Mercer’s Family Therapy Center where she gained experience working with a diverse set of individuals and families.
Laura’s training and experience has prepared her to work with children, adolescents, couples, families, and groups. Laura’s specializations include:
Children and Adolescents: anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, adoption, obsessions and compulsions, social and behavioral problems, ADHD, acting out behaviors
Mental Illness: depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, conduct disorder, borderline personality disorder, adjustment disorders
Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities: autism spectrum, building parenting skills, building a supportive environment and relationships, sibling conflict, bullying, life cycle transitions, special considerations, stress, peer relationships
Life Cycle Transitions: parenting based on developmental needs, transitions, identity developmental, boundary setting, divorce, grief
Laura is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and has lived in Atlanta for the past fourteen years. She is a graduate of The Ohio State University where she received her B.A. in Psychology from the Honors Program. She is actively involved in Special Olympics, Special Pops Tennis, and the organization R-Word “Spread the Word to End the Word”.
